It was a perfect fall day to be out and about shooting engagement photos with this happily-in-love couple. We started out at Pfeiffer Park in Cedar Falls and made our way to Look Out Park, where these two got engaged. I was glad they were up for anything, even though they had some ideas to add of their own. Their easy-going personalities and ability to sometimes just pose themselves made my job easy!
Even though the weather wasn’t quite what a bride dreams of for her ideal wedding day, we made the most of it and it turned out to be a pretty great day! Before the first look, the couple read letters that they had written to each other beforehand, which made for a special touch to the day. The red, white and silver decorations really transformed the space and were an amazing 9-month project done by family. The draping at the reception had strings of gorgeous, hand-done beading that must’ve taken forever. Truly a labor of love! Probably my two favorite occasions of the day were the groom singing “God gave me you” to his bride during the ceremony and the “Evolution of Dance” performed by the couple for their first dance. The dance was based on the famous youtube version found here. Overall, it was a great day of love and fun memories that a little rain couldn’t deter.

This is the epic post from Kristi and Kevin’s beautiful wedding at St. Edward Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA. The ladies started the day at Sharper Image Beauty Salon on University Ave. and then proceeded to the Ramada Inn hotel to finish getting ready. After the wedding, we snapped some fun, relaxed images and then headed to Black’s Sky Room in Waterloo where the lovely reception began. After the dance got going, the guys pulled out a cool surprise, which involved all the groomsmen + the groom + both of the dad’s doing a dance routine to “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys. It was a very entertaining rendition, I have to say. You can only imagine how great it was from the photos, but you almost had to be there to get the full experience. This is a long enough post, so I’ll let the images tell the rest of the story.
